Billing, Aquadrome Northampton, 2005

This year I went to the Billing Sparesday for the first time. And as a member of the Rover SD1 Club, I could finally meet with the guys from the Uk. Here is an impression of our trip, as my wife and I took a long weekend in the area.

Ever been to the Euro tunnel?? Mmm, yes it is quick, just 30 minutes, that's all, but what a dull half an hour that is... there is absolute nothing on board. I rather sail... here is how you get on board.

Just after we left the Euro Tunnel, I received several SMS messages from my friends telling me the Rover was almost bankrupt... not so nice to hear when you are just visiting a Rover meeting....

And at the B&B they make jokes, why visit a spareday if you can buy the complete Rover company for about 1 quid!!!!

(I replied, that I liked the idea, but that I had to take care for about 6000 employees, who all want to have a holiday..) shame, thought, and let's hope Rover will continue..

Since our B&B was in the Silverstone area, this was a perfect location to shoot this very nice picture first!

The spares day was held on Sunday the 10th of April. About 70 cars were in attendance, this turnout bodes well for the National Rally in the summer. Maybe I will be there as well.

Various line ups, in 3 rows...

Here you can see my car... somewhere in the middle....

And of coarse the beautiful black Vitesse EFI from Helen the club secretary was probably on of the nicest cars appeared on the show.

But what about this 4.6 series 1.... horrible pictures....

Luckily I was not alone with my 2600, here is a nice golden example, but I've seen even 2000 series, cars that just occasionally appear on the road.

My 2.6 between the "big guys"!

And than my return trip back to Folkstone, on the M25 near London. The car did a perfect job, not one problem during my total visit, and this is something for the records.

Thanks to all the guys from the Rover SD1 Club in the UK who made it a great day.

These pictures are taken by Chris Jones, the Magazine editor. Thanks Chris for your input.

Vitesses all over the place...

And guess what, here you see my wife and I discussing about Rover parts, that is not regular seen...
