ROVER 2600 OVERHAULED ENGINE!
Overview.
This engine came from a very low mileage series one, SD1 from 1977 - at the time of removal, the engine had done 11,000 miles - the bores and pistons and crank were found to be in perfect condition with no wear and all that was done to the bores was de-glazing.
Work Carried Out.
Being very keen to get the best out of this engine, I bought a new old stock cylinder head from Rimmer Brothers and had Oselli Engineering in Oxford, England carry out all the gas flowing/porting to stage two - they also supplied and lapped in new valves and springs. This work alone cost a£1,000.
The crankshaft/pistons/flywheel and new clutch were all balanced as a unit.
Cost £570.
A new Clutch/Water pump/Viscous/Exhaust Manifold/Cylinder Head are all
fitted. Cost £665.
The engine was built by a P. D. Autocraft in Rowlet Regis in the Black Country and Paul who built the engine, worked on SD1's when they were new..
He made an exellent job of building it. Cost £570.
So the total I have spent to date is: £2,805.
I realise I won't get back all the money I spent, but I am open to serious and reasonable offers and I'm selling this engine as I don't have an SD1 anymore. (The engine work was finished before I decided to sell the car it came from, hence the reason it's being sold as it stands.)
The engine can be viewed by arrangement at P.D. Autocraft and Paul, who built the engine, will be happy to talk about his work to anyone who is interested in purchasing this engine.
Whoever does buy this will have an excellent, fast road engine that is probably as fast as a V8 in standard form.
